Edwin Navarro and Jeslyn Santos: Flores de Mayo

Santacruzan or Flores de Mayo is held once a year in a "flowery" month of May. Beautiful ladies in the community are chosen to join a flashy and multi-colored parade escorted by equally gorgeous and handsome men - a tableau extravagantly ostentatious and showy. In Manila, beauty queens and who's who in the beauty firmament flooded Manila's streets and beauty kings and ramp models added glamour and elegance to the already colorful proceedings dedicated in honor of Blessed Virgin Mary. Flores which means flowers are considered Alay (offering) sa Virgin -thus the name of the festival Flores de Mayo. Photography: Jonas YU

Cris Edwin Navarro And June Macasaet

Cris Edwin Navarro (Firtst Runner Up Manhunt Philippines 2012) and Angelee de los Reyes (Super Model International Continental Queen of Asia) poses with Manhunt International 2012 Winner June Macasaet.

The news that June Macasaet winner of Manhunt International 2012 title who bested 53 delegates from around the world will be stripped off the title because he wasn't able to perform his duties to his producers and  to the local franchise (Prime Events Production and Manhunt Philippines who is now busy knee deep with the preparations of Manhunt Philippines 2013) hit like a punch in the gut.

Indeed, local pageant observers were saddened by the turn of events and such a draconian and stringent decision of stripping a winner off a title (lalo na may international titleholder ito ...  baka mamaya pati si Alex Liu at mga alipores nito ay maenganyo ring tanggalan rin siya ng titulo ... huwag naman) is something we dont want at this stage. Nakakahawa kasi iyan.

We know we can't blame Prime Events Productions for their sentiments (prinsipyo at kontrata lang naman ang nasa side nila), as they need June Mac to drumbeat Manhunt Philippines 2013 which will have its airtime next month. On the other hand we still don't know the reasons why June Mac is not cooperating.  He might have valid reasons too for making himself unavailable.

Pero huwag naman tayong mawala or magside kahit kanino.  And we want cooler heads to intervene. Sa kaunting tampuhan tulad nito ... baka maghintay tayo ng siyam-siyam ... it might even take a lifetime...  katulad ng paghintay natin kung kailan tayo biyayaan ng Miss World title that is very elusive.

Everybody did their best as they move heaven and earth ... mabigyan lang ng karangalan ang Pilipinas. And besides ... malapit ng matapos ang term ni June, why end it in the sour note.

Somebody suggested na sigi ... Cris Edwin Navarro can fill the shoes of June Mac at the time na wala siya. We also agree sa decision ng Prime Events Production na si Edwin and ipadala this year bilang representative. Deserving naman siya. Yong winner kasi this year will compete (raw)sometime in May next year sa Beijing.

QUICK! (To Man Central readers, pasensiya na at nag-Tagalog ako dito  ... alam nyo na .., walls have ears!
