"Jason win .... Jason win!" that was Jona, telling me the good news in the phone. She was working night shift (in a busy California hospital) but she had been following the finals of Voice of the Philippines season 2 ... that's Sunday, March 1 2015. How this nurse manage to open her iphone 6 plus in a middle of work is beyond me. I presumed, she hid in the bathroom again .... Bad girl!
I was off from work that night, so I immediately googled you tube and listen to the Top Four belting the "greatest performances" of their lives. That really pre-empted the thrill of watching the Final Night at TFC which by the way will air 12 hours from now. But who cares I was excited myself, so there I went.
When I started scanning , I saw there were two men left standing Jason and Alisah, I presumed Leah and Rence bit the dust, I will know the story when its starts to unfold later tonight.. Jason scored bigtime with a whooping 52.94% of a combined public and fan votes when the lines were opened. He sang the OPM ballad "Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin" versus Alisah's authoritative and persuasive rendition of "All By Myself." which got her 47.06%. Alisah was good, but Jason is better.
Going back to Jason's journey in the voice of the Philipppines, he was unforgettable when he performed a fast song "With You". He didn't disappoint and he even treated us to a few of his dance moves as he gyrates onstage with gusto. His rendition of "Thinking Out Loud" made an ear-drum-busting response from the audience and as the camera panned, Sarah Geronimo's face glowed with pride even in the dark. When Sarah made a duet with him via "If I Ain't ot You, I can feel an Eric Santos vibe in him ... compelling, dominant and masterful. But what brought the house down in my books was his duet with Charice Pempenco when they sang Miley Cyrus "Wrecking Ball". We were treated to a plethora of his singing ability as he rendered an impressive and all-powerful vocal calisthenics you can imagine ... you can't help but ask for more.
The final results of "The Voice PH" season 2 proved that the standards of viewers when it comes to singing are changing. To quote the Ultimate Fan... "Now, it's not just the contestant's ability to "birit" that will win the viewers' hearts. Alisah belted out her piece and cleanly hit her high notes in a performance worthy of confetti to end the season, but Jason's musicality, control and technique cannot be overlooked. His runs were perfect and his falsettos were clean. And while the televiewers knew that he wants to impress for the votes, Jason didn't over sing. He just sang with his heart to touch the hearts of those watching. As a result, he got majority of the viewers' votes and won the whole thing."
