Mr. International 2008 wrapped up last November 24 in Taiwan and Asians were heavily favored. It was deja vu once again as we remember when Miss Universe was held in Taiwan 2 or 3 decades back when Portnip Nakirankanouk of Thailand sashayed in Taiwanese stage with only Miss Mexico as a Latin winner in the top five, all four others Japan, Hongkong (and there's still one more) wrestled the world attention, a coup some people called it.
Mr. International 2008 gave us the same coloring with Vietnam as Mr. International 2008, first Runner up was Mohammad Chamseddine from Lebanon, second runner up was Zhang Mao of China, third runner up was Croatia Mihovil Barum and 4th runner up was netherlands Vincent Cleurin.
Even the semifinalists group found Asians crowding the field that include Jeffrey Surio (Philippines), Vikas Mehandroo (India), Rocky Pramala (Indonesia), Ken Lim (Singapore) Li and Cheh Siang (Taiwan). Other semifinal contenders were: Ivan Ruselko (USA), Marco Antonio Chinea (Venezuela), Marciel Moreno Mendes (Brazil), Dimitrus Tsilis (Greece) and Koen Van de Voorde (Belgium).
To Mr. Vietnam Ngo Tien Doan who incidentally was one of the 15 finalists in Manhunt International 2007 and was voted Mr. Physique, our sincere congratulations. Here's hoping for another golden harvest for asians in the next Mr. International 2009.
