And with the hoopla created by the disqualification of Venus Raj whose case was getting out of hand (maraming tao ang nakisawsaw sa controversy) and almost have its settlement in court, another male pageant was born ... and from the looks of it ... since the producers are the very same people behind Carousel Productions and Miss Earth ... a very promising annual male pageant knocks at our pageant consciousness... obviously its male counterpart ... Mr. Earth Philippines 2010!
I said it is promising ... because Carousel is tied up with ABS CBN, and with a lot beauty queens embarking on a showbiz career lately (Miriam Quiambao in Kung Tayo'y Makakalayo and Lara Quigaman in May Bukas Pa, Ginger Conejero as news anchor, and now Showtime and Wowowee are powered by beauty queens as resident judges and guests namely Carlene Aguilar, Karla Paula Henry, Pamela Bianca Manalo, Priscilla Mirelles, Sandra Seifert, Jeanne Angeles Ham, Jenina San Miguel, Catherine Untalan, all making their presence felt at the ABS CBN backyard.
How far could it be for Mr. Earth winners to crossover if they be given a chance? And the evidence lies on the fact that the current resident hunks in ABS CBN stable, comes from the pageant ramp themselves (John Estrada, Zanjo Marudo and AJ Dee of Bodyshots, Victor Basa and Rocky Salumbides of Model Of The World Philippines, Jon Avila, Ram Sagad and JC Tiusejo of Century Tuna Superbods, Carlo Guevarra, Ron Morales and John James Uy of Be Bench, Randolf Stamatelaky,Jordan Herrera Jiro Shirakawa and Thou Reyes of Mossimo Bikini Summit, Benj Besa and Puma Gomari of Mr. World, Hermes Bautista of Maharlikang Pilipino, Jason Abalos, Rainier Castillo, and Dion Ignacio of Circle of Ten, Jericho Rosales and Edgan Allan Guzman of Mr. Pogi, Marvin Raymundo, Bruce Quebral and Brent Javier of Manhunt, Allen Dizon of Ginoong Filipinas, Reb Sibal and Vince Saldana of Close Up To Fame to name a few ... and the list goes on.
And what could be more exciting if one the prize let's say is an ABS CBN contract for two years. I guess the best looking guys will troop down stampeding at the gates. We hit two birds in one stone this way ... we get the best looking representatives and the chances of winning are greater ... and secondly we got to see them more in TV and in movies when their reign is over. And there's more!! How about Carousel Productions staging MR EARTH in the near future with all those international hunks flooding the Lopez Compund. It is not a far fetch idea ... for why stage Mr. Earth Philippines if you don't aim to go global!
So much for this fantasy! By the way the first winner of Mr. Earth Philippines is John Adrian Reyes. He is a twenty year old commerce student from University of Santo Tomas. He was crowned no less than the reigning Miss Earth 2009 from Brazil Larissa Ramos assisted by Sandra Seifert Miss Earth Philippines 2009.
