Binibining Pilipinas 2018 FOOTNOTES
1. Kudos to BCPI. After a long deliberation they were able to come up with winners that is to die for. What a great batch indeed. For sure they will make an impact in the respective international pageants they will be competing in.
2. This one is for Ripley's Believe it or not! Catriona will come down in pageant history as the winner of two major titles in the country- Miss World Philippines and Miss Universe Philippines.
3. Here's another pageant trivia. Aside from Catriona winning two major crowns, it is safe to say that for 2 consecutive years the Miss Universe Philippines crown came from the rival camp - Miss World Philippines. This year c/o Catriona Gray and last year c/o Rachel Peters.
4. Another footnote: Australia has already replaced USA as our major source of import beauties. Last year there was Elizabeth Clenci (Miss Grand International 2017 Second Runner Up) and Chanel Olive Thomas (Top Ten Miss Supranational 2017). This year there's Catriona Gray- Miss Universe Philippines 2018 and Karen Gallman- Miss Intercontinental Philippines 2018.
5. I must say this is an all-mestiza Top 8. The myth of making a mestiza/morena tandem as big winners is a thing of the past. Same thing can be said about an A&Q/KF twin win.If all winners comes from Aces and Queens and for as long as they are all deserving, so be it. The winners should not be equally divided between KF or A&Q just to please the two camps and their supporters.
6. When Sam Bernardo was called Second Runner Up her face fall like it was the end of the world. The same scenario followed when Vickie Rushton was called first Runner Up.
7. Ahtisa Manalo was acting like she knew she was already Miss International. There was no tinge of emotion written in her face when her name was called ... she was unlike Catriona and Jehza whose emotions reached the historic ecstatic plateau about their respective victories.
8. Who did choke in the Q and A round? The answer was Anjame Magbitang. But her name did not reached the radar screen, thanks to Sandra Lemonon and Karen Gallman. They saved her from the onslaught of the social media's vitriolic and acerbic comments.
9. I have a different interpretation of the situation. The social media spared Anjame... because she was not crown-worthy anyway. Who cares about whether she choked or not? Whereas Sandra and Karen are heading head to head to get their own individual crowns. And they talk about their failure not because they want to castigate them... I can sense SAYANG is more what they say. Look despite everything Karen manage to snatch the Miss Intercontinental crown.
10. If Sandra Lemonon made good in the Q and A round it would be a fairy tale come true, a happy ending of sort to the FLOWER BOY and her. "Who was the FLOWER BOY anyway?" asked everybody. To the uninformed he was Josh Barfuss the boyfriend of Sandra Lemonon. Can you imagine if Sandra won? It can be an artistic and a poetic reunion ever documented in national TV!
11. Anjame, Karen and Sandra's failure and reluctance to answer the question is one big eye opener for everybody. All contestants should read newspapers to brush up with current events happening around not only locally but internationally as well. Too bad 90 percent of the questions really challenge the candidates social awareness and their lack of it.
12. During the announcement of winners the camera dilly dallied in the face of Catriona when Miss International was being announced. When the Miss Universe Philippines on the other hand was announced, the camera panned to capture Aya Abesamis in the frame. May inaabangan ba ang camera? For 3 seconds .. we waited with bated breath expecting for a rude awakening.
13. Richard Gutierrez should be careful next time. In the Top 15 while calling for candidate 24 ... he announced 20 and let it hang for awhile before he said 4. As a result of what he did, Catriona Gray whose number was # 20 made her initial stride towards the center, if she didn't have the presence of mind, that was one major embarassment!
14. Jehza Huelar is another Pia Wurtzbach personified. Their perseverance finally paid off after their third attempt. Pia won Miss Universe 2015, will Jehza won Miss Supranational 2018?
Your guess is as good as mine.

15. Somebody close to Jehza should tell her to remove those tacky contact lenses. There's nothing more beautiful than the original one. Having been bombarded with Jehza's pictures day in and day out, somebody should have told her those pictures could have been better without the distracting lenses. They are more of a liability than an asset.
16. Chanel Olive Thomas on her farewell speech should have opted to deliver her piece in English. She wants to be different I know, but coming after Elizabeth Clemsi's valedictory speech, her insistence and stubborness to use Tagalog take a hilarious turn.
17. The camera caught Nawat (the owner of Miss Grand International) laughing alone. My gosh he was almost in tears!
Whatever tickled his funny bones is something that intrigue me.
