In the world of make up and make-believe, a beautiful face or talent is not always enough to carry a modelling career. You may have a face that can launch a thousand ships (or sank other ships) ... but it won't do you any good if you don't have any good pictures to bolster your stock. You maybe have the talent that illuminates an empty stage ... or you may have a presence that make heads turn or set the ramp on fire ... all this is nothing and your success is next to lukewarm if you don't have the photos that document your versatility .
So ... whenever you hear about a new "overnight sensation" in the ramp or in print .... there's probably been an over-zealous photographer in the background working tirelessly for months to make things happen for the model or models. Are you aware of that?

The case in point is my good friend ASH CASTRO. Call me stupid for calling him a friend ... when I have never seen the guy ! I have never rubbed elbows with him ... nor took a sip of coffee or two with him...but I have heard a lot of positive testimonies about him. He has friends who I became friends with ... and all I hear are glowing remarks and Rated-K pronouncements. We have a few exhanges of hi's and good monings in emails, but that's about it. And as I hear fans and devotees ranting repeatedly a word salad of good things over and over again ... my gosh ... it's an over kill! It is blackmail spiced with major brain-washing! And I succumbed to it.
I guess my friendship with ASH is based on my respect for his work . And he was also too vocal about his respect with mine. He mesmerized you one day ... and on the second day you are already a convert. And his works ? .... MAGICAL. If you are ordinary ... you come out of the shoot feeling special and 'extraordinary' . He brings you back your sanity .... and he gaves you a dose shot of confidence. Thousands of shoots and photos are a living proof of his portfolio and he published them for all the people to see. He deliver the goods in his blogs and just like the touted Pacquiao punch, he never fails to give us a KNOCKOUT. Imagine spending your morning ... seeing STARS!
Whether you admit it or not, Ash Castro had already touch our lives ... especially to the models above ... the models he is going to work with tomorrow ... and in the future. Because of his hardwork and his passion for his his craft, YOU ... have never looked this good!
It may not be too late thanking him for these opportunities. Get the phone and start texting or calling him right now. Surprise him by giving him a hug ... a kiss perhaps ... or maybe a tap in a shoulder . Show him your appreciation .... because today (August 26) is ASH CASTRO's APPRECIATION DAY. Malacanang has nothing to do with it ... and by the way next year ... I will see to it that it is declared a holiday ! How's that for another Blackout Experience?
